The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup kicks off in Russia in June with 8 teams looking to win a major international trophy. The tournament serves as a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the FIFA World Cup the following year with all eyes squarely focused on the European country and signs of what to expect come 2018.
adidas unveiled Krasava, the official match ball for the tournament, last year and is inspired by the tradition of the country.
The name of the ball is a Russian word often used by sports fans to describe a creative team that has put a beautiful performance, making it the ultimate praise.
The ball features a striking red pattern that represents a Russian Ruby as a metaphorical jewell of the game. Krasava incorporates the same technical specifications seen with the Beau Jeu and Fracas, official match balls used during this year’s UEFA Euro 2016; its panel shape and premium surface deliver enhanced grip and in-flight visibility.
adidas Krasava will be seen on-pitch for the first time on November 14th, when Russia takes on Romania in a friendly game. The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup shall be played between June 17th and July 2nd, featuring Russia, Germany, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and the 2017 Africa Cup of Nation winners.
