Full-grain leather Also referred to as calfskin leather, this is the most common leather on mid- to high-end boots. Needs some breaking-in time to soften, depending on the quality of leather, but is very durable and comfortable afterwards. Asymmetrical A style of lacing in which the laces are positioned to the lateral side of the foot. this creates a larger and flatter striking area. It also reduces the risk of injury to sensitive areas of the foot. External heel counter Reinforcement on the outside heel of a boot which reduces the level of pressure on the Achilles while increasing comfort. TPU Thermoplastic Urethane. It can be fine-tuned for optimal stiffness and is used to make stabilizing outsoles. EVA A microcellular foam material that is lighter and more flexible than rubber. Tough and water-resistant, it is used to offer additional cushioning. Phylon Heated and compressed EVA foam cushioning compound that is light, resilient and capable of giving a soft, smooth ride. Sockliner The layer of rigid and flexible materials which comes into direct contact with your foot. Poron A unique, open-celled polyether/polyester urethane foam that has the properties of high density and flexibility. Excellent for absorbing energy upon impact, it helps prevent shoes from "bottoming out” or having too much bounce. Zoom Air Lightweight, super-responsive performance cushioning. Incredibly thin, Zoom Air brings the foot closer to the ground for optimum feel and aggressive maneuverability without sacrificing comfort. Gum Rubber Used on most indoor outsoles. Provides grip on flat surfaces. Most gum-rubber is non-marking, which means that colors will not rub off onto gym floors or other surfaces. Traxion™ Traxion bladed outsoles are designed to provide optimal ground penetration for maximum grip, larger surface area for greater acceleration and better pressure distribution for increased comfort. Ground Control An outsole design featuring bio-mechanically and anatomically proven stud positioning to evenly distribute pressure under a variety of conditions. Utilizes "double-headed" studs designed for penetration without ground locking. PVC Polyvinyl Chloride. Like PU, a multi-purpose synthetic material. Provides excellent durability across the board.
