Lotto
In 1973, Lotto was established in the known city of shoe manufacturing, Montebelluna, Italy by a family named Caberlotto. In June of that same year, Lotto came out with its first product which was a tennis shoe. This was followed by the production of basketball, volleyball, and soccer shoes. The first decade of its life, the company focused on becoming established in the Italian market.
In the eighties, soccer was not as big of an industry as it is today, and Lotto began to compete against the producers of soccer boots and apparel. They started to contract with top athletes to get their brand name out into the growing soccer world. While working with the professional athletes of that era, Lotto gained a lot of insight for their designs and production. This “partnership” with their athletes gave them a competitive edge over their companies and also helped them expand their business to exporting to almost 60 countries around the globe.
Lotto was becoming known for their high-quality, innovative, and stylish designs. The company achieved world-leader status in the sportswear industry and was on the move. To continue with its success, the company expanded their production to leisurewear to target a whole new niche group.
By the nineties, Lotto was sponsoring two top soccer teams, the Dutch National Team and the world-famous AC Milan we know of today. They also produced shirts for the Euro events of 1992 and 1996.
In 1999, the company would see a change within their corporate area. The company was renamed Lotto Sport Italia and they were looking to renovate the company. The CEO of the business, Andrea Tomat, decided to break the company into four different elements. The four elements were performance-sport products, adult-leisure products, kids-leisure products, and licensing. This decision was made to help support their view of making the brand better known in the global business. Their strengths of innovative designs, high-quality, their drive to succeed, and their Italian based designs were to stay as they were.
The company continues to find ways of sticking with the cutting-edge designs of today. They have just come out with a new soccer shoe that is the first of its kind. The world’s first laceless soccer shoe belongs to Lotto and its “Zhero Gravity” shoe. This lightweight shoe has an upper that conforms to an athletes foot which gives he or she improved ball control and a better touch on the ball. The upper is made of a special anti-shock microfiber that is also water-repellent. This form-fitting shoe gives an athlete ultimate comfort while gaining a better feel for the ball with ‘no strings attached’.
With their new corporate vision set, Lotto Sport Italia is on its way to creating an improved performance line of their products. The world’s first laceless shoe, Zhero Gravity, is just one example of Lotto’s drive to be one of the top leaders in sportswear innovation. They also take pride in their birth place and keep their traditional values by continuing to do it “The Italian Way”.
